How to go there?
BY AIR - You can book a flight to Laoag from Manila via Philippine Airlines. Flights to and from Laoag are available daily and twice a day during the weekends but the flight times may vary. As of now, there is no other direct domestic flights to Laoag other than Manila, the best option is to fly to Manila first then take a flight to Laoag, if you are not from Manila, might as well go around and see Manila for a few hours or a couple of days.
Duration - 1 hour and 10 minutes [One Way]
Cost - Php4,000-6,000 on average [One Way]
BY LAND - Land travel to Ilocos is obviously longer than flying, but is definitely more cheaper. Due to recent road improvements especially on Philippine Expressways the travel time has been shorten.
Public Transportation -You can ride a bus going to Vigan or Pagudpud which is both a good place to start your trip. Manila to Vigan, you can choose any of the following bus liners, Partas, Fariñas and Florida. It is best you call the Bus Company and book tickets ahead of time especially during peak and holiday season. [Bring your Valid ID and Vaccination Card/Certificate]

Ilocos is definitely one of the top tourist destination in Luzon, with it's reach culture and history, it is a trip for all ages. We highly recommend you visit with friend and/or relative to cut cost. Traveling by plane to be honest is impractical, but if you hate long drives and being stuck in a car for a long time and you have the money to spare, by all means travel by plane.
The most fun way to visit Ilocos is by drive, can bring you vehicle to be able to move on your own pace, as long as you have the time to alot. Doing this needs a lot of planning to maximise your trip, for there are a lot of places to cover. We highly recommend you have to designated driver for it will be a long drive.
If you decide to travel by bus and do a DIY trip for two it will cost around Php4,500 to Php7,000 by Bus. See Rough estimate based on a 3 day trip using this Suggested Itinerary. Please note that some tourist sites are far from each other. Vigan to Pagudpud is 3-4 hours drive.
